Twice lucky lottery win
March 25th, 2009 | by admin |
Robert Hong had a better chance of opening an oyster in his Kirkland Lake restaurant and finding a pearl than winning a lottery. But he did it. Twice.
Win the lottery that is – not find a pearl.
On Saturday, Hong discovered he had picked all six numbers in the Lotto 6/49 draw, giving him a $15 million jackpot.
Just six months ago, he had a $340,000 win with a friend.
“I really couldn’t believe it,” Hong said after picking up his prize at the Toronto prize office on Tuesday. “To win again after such a short amount of time, I had to look at the numbers a few times and sit back and see that those were actually the winning numbers.”
The odds of winning the top prize are about one in 14 million. The chances of winning twice are, well, astronomical.
To compare, the website Webmath.com says the odds of a woman giving birth to quadruplets are 705,000 to one, and the odds of finding that pearl are a mere 12,000 to one.
Hong has put in long hours operating his family-run, third-generation restaurant in the small Northern Ontario city. He says he’ll still run the restaurant but will cut back on his hours.

thing is, luck is as great as your ability to attract things into life; they attracted a beautiful child and wealth and the desire for more and there you have it. There are ways of wining it, just gotta work at it on a nearly paranormal to us level
I couldn’t care less for this much money but since I am so against society and the conditioned effects on my family, I’d rather win the lottery, keep some money and give away the rest.

Garbage bagging the small stuff. Take a taxi my cats and just my purse to the hotel. Go downtown and buy some clothes etc. Call my dad tell him where I am and I am fine. Buy a new cellphone. I would then go to a realty office and buy a two bedroom condo. Downtown and spend a month decorating from IKEA. Then I would travel living off the bank interest. I would pack up quick before I am attacked by handout seekers thieves or media! Id be gone in two days!

Exactly Boomer! If I won I would call in sick leave food for my cats and take a taxi to the trainstation. No packing just my purse and id. Take the next train to Toronto and get to the OLG before they closed that day. I would not tell nobody anything! If I must do the photo thing I will just smile and say I am going to Disneyworld. Come home rent a nice hotel room bring my cats. Quit my job and call my landlord to give notice and throw out everything in my small apt into the yard.
